The first fire broke out Sunday evening after a propane tank exploded, and the fire restarted early Monday, the Connecticut Post reported. Merchant Street was closed for several hours Monday morning as crews remained at the scene to wet the damaged three-story building, according to the Connecticut Post.

Authorities also closed down traffic in the area after the first incident at around 6 p.m. Sunday. When the second fire broke out at around 6 a.m. Monday, officials were able to evacuate nearby residents in the densely populated neighborhood, the Connecticut Post said.
